Writing Introductions (IN PERSON) In-Person

Workshop Details:

What is an introduction? In an abstract way, the introductory paragraph moves the reader from the world of daily life into the analytical space of an essay. More concretely, the introduction should perform three essential functions: it should clearly and specifically state the topic or question being addressed, it should motivate the topic or question the essay examines, and it should clearly state your position on this topic or question (i.e. your thesis). This workshop will lay out the structural components of an introduction and provide an accessible template to ensure you always start your essays off on the right foot.
